How it works

The company had a mature web platform and a legacy codebase. The mobile app was built fresh in React Native against a Node.js API, with coding standards set up front so a mixed in-house and offshore team could ship consistently.

Client organizations sign in through OAuth 2.0 single sign-on, and learning events flow into an analytics pipeline for reporting.

CI/CD on Bitbucket Pipelines built, tested, and deployed to AWS on every merge.

Hard parts

  • Modernizing the stack underneath a live product without a release freeze.
  • Translating ambiguous client requests into scoped, shippable features across time zones.

Outcome

Roadmap features shipped on time with a team that grew more independent as standards took hold.
